greeting from SW

Social work in general involves working to bring about social change, helping to solve problems in human relationships and empowering and liberating people so as to enhance their lives.

A social work program has as its fundamentals the principles of human rights and social justice. It provides a sound knowledge of the political, behavioral and social sciences as the basis for the development of in depth knowledge of social work theory, social work practice, social policy and research.

according to International Federation of Social Workers, social work bases its methodology on a systematic body of evidence-based knowledge derived from research and practice evaluation, including local and indigenous knowledge specific to its context. It recognizes the complexity of interactions between human beings and their environment, and the capacity of people both to be affected by and to alter the multiple influences upon them including bio-psychosocial factors. The social work profession draws on theories of human development and behaviour and social systems to analyze complex situations and to facilitate individual, organizational, social and cultural changes

Professional social workers are generally considered those who hold a professional degree in Social Work. Often these practitioners must also obtain a license or be professionally registered.

In many areas of the Western world, social workers start with a Bachelor of Social Work (BA, BSc or BSW) degree. Some countries offer post-graduate degrees like the master's degree (MA, MSc or MSW) or the doctoral degree (Ph.D or DSW).

the curtain is raised....opening ceremony

my Social Work blog for FEM 3342 has been created and officially open to public. dont ask why i must put the word 'accoutrement' in all of my blogs..

according to concise oxford dictionary tenth edition, accoutrement means :
1 an additional item of dress or equipment
2 a soldier's outfit other than weapons and garments.

so, i would refer to the 1st meaning (an additional item of dress or equipment). in the case of my other blog, the dress would be my life and the additional item would be all the big and little things and happenings that was added to my life's experience. its like all the tiny things that made my life beautiful..just like what ribbons and laces would do in wedding dresses.

in the case of this blog however, the dress would be the Social Work Field itself and the additional item is all the things about social work that will clarify the true meaning about social work and social welfare to anyone who doesnt have a clue about it.

so thats the reason for all these accoutrement..
